Face-to-face philosophical coaching is possible, but most clients prefer the telephone as the method of communication because it is the most flexible, private, and convenient. The majority of all coaching sessions involve a telephone call between one coach and one client. Occasionally, however, more than one person will want to participate in a coaching session. Even if clients are at a distance from one another this can be accomplished through conference calling services. In fact, these services can be arranged so that any number of people from any number of locations can join a group call.
While most coaching sessions require no more technology than telephones, some clients benefit from seeing information. This could mean that both coach and client look at their own paper-based books, but in some instances the coach will have visual information to share that is not easily obtained by the client. Fortunately, any information that can be made electronic can easily be shared via the Internet. The primary obstacle to sharing information via the Internet is the speed of Internet connections that participants have available. If all participants have broadband access, however, information can be shared electronically at a rapid rate. We have the ability to share slides and documents for classes and lectures, and for an additional cost we can even arrange the technology to show what we are doing on our own computers.
